NEW YORK, NY – This article, by Rochelle Garner, is initially about Cisco & smart phones. They are not interested we are told; "CEO John Chambers says he'd rather work on the networking that supports products from RIM, Apple, and Palm." Fair enough, although having just purchased – and fallen in love with – the Droid, I am wondering why Chambers did not mention Google's Android... I am sure I will find out why in due course.
Anyway, the article also mentions Cisco's acquisition of Pure Digital (makers of the exceedingly amazing FlipCam). Business Insider recently reported that the Droid is yet another nail in the Flip's coffin. I am not sure I entirely agree: there is something super easy and alluring about that big red button. But, since they bring it up... and since I've uploaded and edited more raw video file than most people do in a lifetime, Cisco should build Flips that plug in via HDMI (Flips currently plug in via USB). An HDMI data transfer would be close to – if not faster than – real time. 1,000,000 dollar idea: "External hard drives should have HDMI ports!" Cisco? What do you think? Avoid the coffin.

Full disclosure: Erica and I grew up 2 blocks from each other in New York.
